lamentcare for the vulnerablemercy

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

When news arrives in waves—illness and violence, imprisonment and fear—it can feel as though mercy has withdrawn from the world. Yet the writer of Lamentations knew this feeling intimately, speaking from within devastation itself, and still found reason to name God’s mercies as the only thing standing between humanity and utter dissolution. The verse does not deny the real suffering visible in today’s headlines, nor does it offer false comfort; rather, it invites us to notice what persists despite the darkness: the doctor treating the sick, the journalist bearing witness to injustice at personal cost, the medics working to save lives, the small nations and communities still daring to dream. To acknowledge mercy in such a day is not to minimize suffering, but to recognize that faithfulness—to truth, to the vulnerable, to care—has not yet been extinguished.

What prompted this

Today's news carries the weight of multiple crises: disease outbreaks claiming lives, civilians caught in ongoing violence, journalists and prisoners facing detention and abuse, and the persistence of conflict despite attempts at resolution. Amid these struggles, there are also quiet witnesses—those reporting on injustice, those seeking medical healing, those dreaming of better futures.
